Eight words hide in the grid — across, down, diagonal, forwards or backwards. Drag over each one to clear the board.

How to play

Eight words are listed under the grid. Each one sits somewhere in the letters in a straight line — horizontal, vertical or diagonal, running in either direction.

Press the first letter of a word and drag to its last letter. The line snaps to the eight compass directions as you move, so you only need to aim roughly. Lift your finger to submit.

A correct word locks in green and gets struck off the list. A wrong drag just clears with no penalty, so guess freely.

The clock starts on your first drag and stops when the last word falls. Lower time is better.

Tips & strategy

Scanning letter by letter is the slow way. The fast way is to hunt for the rare letters first: in the English list, words carrying J, K, V, W or Y stand out from a grid of common letters, so find that one letter and you have found the word. Read the list before you touch the board and mark which words have an unusual letter — that is where you start.

Work one direction at a time instead of letting your eyes wander. Sweep every row left to right, then every column top to bottom, and only then the diagonals. Diagonals are where most of the time goes, because the eye is not trained to read them, and they are also where the puzzle likes to hide its longest words.

Do not forget that words run backwards too. If you have swept a row and found nothing, you have only checked half of it. A useful habit is to read each row in both directions in one pass — your eye can catch a reversed word almost as fast once you are expecting it.

Long words are easier than short ones, so clear them first. An eight letter word only fits in a handful of places on a ten by ten grid, while a four letter word fits almost anywhere. Taking the long ones off the list early also shrinks what you are looking for later.
