Classic sliding-block puzzle, also known as Huarong Pass. Slide the blocks around to free the big 2×2 block and move it out through the exit at the bottom. Aim to solve it in as few moves as possible.
The board is packed with blocks of different sizes: one big 2×2 block, several tall and wide 1×2 blocks, and small single squares. There are two empty spaces, and blocks can only move into empty space.
Drag a block up, down, left, or right to slide it into the gap next to it; it moves as far as the empty space allows. There is no rotating and no lifting blocks over one another — everything slides flat, like tiles on a tray.
Your goal is the big 2×2 block. Work the other pieces out of its way and shuffle it down until it reaches the marked exit at the bottom centre. The moment it lands there, the puzzle is solved.
Every slide counts as one move, and your move total is your score — lower is better, so the real challenge is finding the most efficient path. Tap New to reset and try for a smaller number.
Think about the two empty squares, not the blocks. Every move is really a move of the empty space, and you can only do anything where a gap sits next to a piece. Steering the gaps to where you need them is the whole game.
The small single squares are your tools. They are the most mobile pieces and the easiest way to shuffle empty space from one side of the board to the other, so use them to ferry gaps around rather than letting them clog a corner.
Don't lunge for the exit too early. The big block can only descend once both columns beneath it are clear, which usually means parking the wide and tall blocks off to the sides first. Set up the escape lane before you commit the 2×2 downward.
For a better score, plan a few moves ahead and avoid undoing yourself — sliding a piece out and right back is two wasted moves. The classic layout has a known shortest solution of around eighty moves, so there is plenty of room to keep beating your best.
