Caves

Dig through dirt, collect diamonds and reach the exit before the clock runs out. Never step down from under a rock — it follows you and crushes you.

How to play

Swipe up, down, left or right to move your miner one cell, or tap the cell next to him. Collect the diamond quota shown above the cave, then walk into the exit at the bottom right before the clock reaches zero.

More: full rules and tips

Moving into dirt digs it away; moving into a diamond collects it. Rocks can only be pushed sideways, and only into an empty cell. A rock or diamond falls whenever the cell below it is empty. A rock that is merely resting on your head stays put — it drops into your cell the moment you leave it, so stepping sideways is safe, but stepping down lets it follow you and crush you. A diamond that falls onto you is collected instead.

The clock is 45 seconds on level 1 and one second shorter on every level after that. It starts with your first move; each later cave starts its clock as soon as it appears. Running out of time or getting crushed costs one of your three lives and restarts the same cave from the beginning, taking away the points you had picked up in it. Every cave can be solved.

Scoring: 25 points per diamond, plus 100 for each exit and 5 more for every second still left on the clock.

Tips & strategy

Watch what is above you before you step down. A rock sitting on your head is harmless while you stand still or walk sideways, but the moment you step downward it drops after you and you are crushed. Before every downward move, check the cell right above you — and if rocks are stacked there, the whole stack comes down together.

Build rock walls on purpose. Pushing rocks sideways is the only way to alter the cave's vertical hazards. If you can shove a rock one cell to the side, that empty column underneath becomes a safe vertical highway, and the rock now blocks a different column. Plan two moves ahead: which column do I want clean, which can I afford to bury?

Diamonds fall too — and that is free score. A diamond resting on your head stays there while you stand still, but if you step down it follows and lands in your hands instead of hurting you. Stand under a column of diamonds and walk downward, and they come down one after another.

Plan the exit before the hunt. The clock is short — 45 seconds on the first cave and a second less on each one after — and every second left when you walk out is worth 5 points. Collect only the quota you need on the way to the bottom right instead of emptying the cave; extra diamonds are worth 25 each, but a death puts the cave back the way it was and takes those points away again.
