Barrel Climb

Climb a stack of platforms via zig-zag ladders. Barrels roll down toward you — jump over them or sidestep on the way up. Reach the top to clear the floor.

How to play

Five horizontal platforms are connected by four ladders arranged in a zig-zag from the bottom-right to the top-left. Your player starts at the bottom; the goal flag sits on the top platform.

Swipe left or right to walk one cell along your current platform. Swipe up while standing at the foot of a ladder to climb one cell up (continue swiping up to keep climbing). Swipe up while on a platform without a ladder under you to do a brief jump — for about a third of a second you're above the platform and barrels pass safely beneath you. Swipe down on a ladder cell to climb back down.

Barrels spawn at the top platform and roll along it until they reach the edge, then drop to the next platform and reverse direction, zig-zagging downward. Touching a non-jumped barrel costs you a life — three lives total. Reaching the top platform clears the floor (bonus + next floor with faster, more frequent barrels). Lose all three lives and the run ends.

Tips & strategy

Climb during the gap between barrels, not whenever you happen to feel ready. The barrel spawn interval is the limiting resource — you have roughly that interval between barrels arriving at your current platform. Time your ladder climbs to the moment immediately after a barrel just passes your row, not when the next one is about to arrive. The bottom of a ladder is a death zone if a barrel is rolling toward it.

The jump is invincible but only briefly. It's worth fifty points to leap over a barrel that would otherwise just pass beneath you on a clear platform, but the timing has to be right: jump too early and you land before the barrel arrives; too late and you're already hit. Watch the barrel's column relative to yours and tap the up swipe when it's about 1.5 cells away from you, moving toward you.

Don't camp on the same platform waiting for a clear shot at the ladder above. The longer you stay on a platform, the more barrels accumulate on it, and the harder the climb gets. The optimal strategy is to keep moving upward — even if it means jumping over a barrel you could have dodged. Each level brings faster spawns; hesitation compounds.

Ladders are bidirectional, and going down is sometimes the right call. If a barrel is about to drop onto your platform from above and you can't reach a ladder in time, descending one floor and waiting for the barrel to roll past is safer than trying to outrun it on the same row. Your goal isn't speed — it's reaching the top with three lives intact. Coming up one extra floor costs only a few seconds; losing a life costs a whole respawn.
