Every move recolours your whole territory, so the question is never "which colour looks nice" but "which colour absorbs the most new cells right now." Glance at the border of your blob and pick the colour that the largest connected mass of same-coloured cells is touching, since that move grows you the most in one step.
Look one move deeper when two choices seem equal: sometimes taking a slightly smaller gain now sets up a much bigger absorption next turn by lining your border up against a huge patch. Spreading toward the centre early tends to give your territory contact with more regions than hugging one edge. With the score counting moves and lower being better, every wasted colour change costs you, so plan the chain of a few moves ahead rather than grabbing the biggest grab each time blindly.
