Color Wars

Pick colors to grow your territory. End with more cells than the AI.

How to play

A 12×12 grid is filled with 5 random colors. Your starting cell is the bottom-left; the AI starts top-right.

On your turn, tap a color from the palette below. Your entire territory turns that color, and every neutral cell of that color touching your territory joins you (and that chain continues).

You cannot pick your current color or the AI's current color.

The round ends when neither side can grow anymore. The side with more cells wins.

Winning the round adds 1 to your streak and starts a new round with a fresh board. Losing ends the game. A draw keeps your streak. The AI looks further ahead as your streak grows, so it keeps getting tougher.

Goal: longest winning streak.

Tips & strategy

Early on, chase the colours that touch the most neutral cells rather than the ones that merely look nice. Each pick absorbs every connected cell of that colour, so the right opening floods huge swathes of the board into your territory in a single move, while a greedy short-sighted pick can stall your growth and let the AI surge ahead.

Because you can never pick your own current colour or the AI's, watch what the opponent is forced into and steer the shared board so your best colours stay available to you. Mid-game, prioritise grabbing the cells along the contested frontier between the two territories, since those are what decide the final count. Late on, count carefully: when only a few cells remain, the win often comes down to a single well-chosen colour that scoops up a border cluster the AI was hoping to claim.
