Urgency, not order, decides which box to grab. A box only hurts you when it slides off the right end, so always serve the box closest to falling off first, even if an easier one just appeared on the left with plenty of belt still ahead of it. Read the belt right-to-left and triage by how little time each box has left.
Drop accuracy matters as much as speed, because a wrong bin costs a life just like a box that escapes, so make sure your drag clearly clears into the matching colour rather than fumbling between two bins. As the belt speeds up, do not panic-grab — pre-plan your next drag while the current box is still in the air, and keep your hand moving in efficient short paths between belt and bins. Steady, deliberate sorting outlasts frantic snatching that misdrops half the boxes.
